Situated in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this centralized dry goods warehouse and freezing facility for one of the biggest supermarket chain groups in the Middle East required the installation of a glycol heater mat. Positioned underneath the 2900m² slab structure of the -30°C deep freezer room, it heats up the ground below to prevent the formation of frost underneath the slab. Reject heat from the refrigeration plant compressors is extracted via a plate heat exchanger and then dissipated into the freezer slab sub base by means of 25mm eval-Pex pipes totalling a length of 10 000m. Equal heat dissipation throughout the entire network was achieved by means of a Pex-a reverse return header configuration in the plant room. A 4-port stainless steel manifold system is used in pairs in order to optimize the installation. Initial start-up training to the local contractor was done by Afripex as well as progress based site visits and reporting. Engineering support was offered by Afripex as well.
